Ms. Wallace’s 7th Grade Language Arts classes recently raised money for charity in culmination of their charity research projects. In congruence with their “Responsibility to Community” thematic unit, students were challenged to pick a social cause important to them, identify a charity that supports the cause, and research the history, impact and effectiveness of that charity. After their initial research, students presented their findings to their classmates to determine what charities for which students would raise money. In the end, Make-A-Wish International, ASPCA, Global Fund for Women and The Leukemia Research Foundation were chosen by the students as the “winning” charities based. Collectively, Ms. Wallace’s three classes raised 144 dollars, which was split among the four organizations.
