Wednesday, November 15, marked the 10th anniversary of Hillside Intermediate School’s annual Celebrity Chef Challenge, “A Taste of Hillside.” The event was held from 6:30p.m to 8:30p.m in the Hillside gymnasium. The challenge is an occasion for students, staff, parents, and community members to come together with their favorite recipes to share and compete with the school community.
This community event is a wonderful opportunity to come together with family, friends, and even strangers. Guests were able to sample a wide range of delectable offerings and tip the treats they enjoy the most. The money raised from the event provides secondary and university scholarships for our Roots & Shoots partners in Kenya and Tanzania.
Hillside’s Roots & Shoots club, Students Raising Students, sponsors Celebrity Chef Challenge. Students Raising Students is a program committed to learning about the lives of children around the world and to promoting the educational rights and aspirations of all children, no matter what the circumstances of their birth are. Specifically, Students Raising Students’ mission is to raise awareness about the impact of poverty on the lives of children in East Africa and to increase their educational opportunities.
